The Platinum story began about three thousand years ago in Egypt. The ancient Egyptians mastered the techniques of working in Platinum and the Platinum decorations on tombs can still be seen today, still as clear as the day they were made. The Platinum story began about three thousand years ago in Egypt. The ancient Egyptians mastered the techniques of working in Platinum and the Platinum decorations on tombs can still be seen today, still as clear as the day they were made. Eight hundred years later, the Incas also began to create precious Platinum jewelry.

Platinum jewelry was first crafted in Europe around 1780 during the reign of Louis XVI of France.  Platinum gained more importance when diamonds were discovered in Kimberly, South Africa. It’s heyday in the U.S. came during the roaring 1920’s and 1930’s, the age of Art Deco and Art Nouveau and vast, showy wealth. At that time, Platinum jewelry consumption in the U.S. utilized over 100,000 ounces of Platinum per year.

Platinum is very rare. It is found only in a few places in the world, primarily in South Africa and Russia.
