^{Platinum jewelry was first crafted in Europe around 1780 during the reign of Louis XVI of France.  Platinum gained more importance when diamonds were discovered in Kimberly, South Africa. It’s heyday in the U.S. came during the roaring 1920’s and 1930’s, the age of Art Deco and Art Nouveau and vast, showy wealth. At that time, Platinum jewelry consumption in the U.S. utilized over 100,000 ounces of Platinum per year.}
